Through the Looking Glass

We have been so generously supported by hundreds of people helping us achieve our goals. So it feels really good to be able to help some of our supporters reach theirs. Jackets for Jasper has been asked a few times to donate a jacket for silent auctions at local fundraising events. And so far we have been able to oblige and include one of our jackets at three events in the last year in support of: the Ride to Conquer Cancer; youth nordic ski clubs; and the Looking Glass Foundation.

The first two events have come and gone, but coming up this Friday is a very gala event which you may have heard about on CBC radio: the Looking Glass Foundation’s 10th Anniversary Gala. The Looking Glass Foundation provides a variety of essential programs and services for adolescents with eating disorders. These include: ongoing support groups, scholarships, an annual summer camp program, and the Woodstone Residence, Canada’s first residential treatment centre for adolescents specializing in the care and treatment of eating disorders. With an estimated 250,000 residents of BC suffering from some form of eating disorder, the Foundation provides a valuable support where previously there had been none.

We hope that the good karma generated through Jackets for Jasper will spread beyond our doorstep to help some of the people who have helped us. We are proud to have our jacket on display at this upcoming event! Here is a lovely quote from the LGF’s webpage:

I thought someone should do something; then I realized I was someone.
